This is arguably Byrdâs most important work â an intensely personal account of his isolation and near death through an Antarctic winter in a small hut at Latitude 80° 08â South â located 160km south of Little America on the Ross Ice Shelf.. Alone is a first person account of human endurance while experiencing long term isolation under extreme conditions. This is also an elegantly produced publication. A very good and engaging read.
