Translated from the official Swedish edition. In August of 1931 the “remains of the Andrée Balloon Expedition to the Pole in 1897 and the bodies of the explorers were discovered on White Island (Spitzbergen). The relics of the expedition, including the diaries and records of S. A. Andrée, and Nils Strindberg, were brought back to Sweden and handed over to a Committee appointed by the Swedish Anthropological and Geographical Society for the purpose of deciphering the records and publishing a book on the Polar Expedition.” An excellent and Scarce copy of the 1st UK Edition.
