Provenance includes several Japanese rubberstamps at the front and publishers stamp on publication page.
This is the first edition of the narrative by Yamabe Yasunasuke, created following the Japanese Antarctic Expedition. Yamabe participated in the expedition at age 44, serving as a dog sled driver during both segments. He was of Ainu background and worked as a cultural anthropologist, specializing in Eskimo and Japanese ethnic cultures. The book addresses his anthropological work and contains a 38-page section detailing his experiences with the Japanese Antarctic Expedition. Shinkichi Hanamori also served as an Ainu dog handler alongside Yamabe during the expedition. Ross 1.6.1
