“Die Japanische Südpol-Expedition Unter Shirase”
“The Japanese South Pole Expedition Under Shirase”
By Michaelsen and O. Baschin
The Journal of the Society for Earth Science of Berlin was published in ten volumes each year. Toward the end of each volume is a section entitled “Vorgänge auf Geographischen Gebiet” which translates “Geographical Miscellanies.” In these sections, notices were published that documented expeditions and discoveries around the globe. The issues listed contain a series of detailed notices under the same title, “Die Japanische Südpol-Expedition unter Shirase.” Together they document the preparation, progress and return of the Japanese Antarctic Expedition. The notices typically run from one to three paragraphs in length. Text in German. Ross 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5. Very Scarce
